Illinois Divorce Trends
Recently, major reforms to Illinois statutes, including the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act, have been proposed concerning divorce, spousal maintenance, parental responsibility/child custody, child support, and other family law matters. Some of the reforms include the following:
- The Elimination of Fault Grounds for Divorce;
- The Requirement of a Written Explanation for a Spousal Maintenance Award; and
- The Reallocation of Parenting Time and Responsibilities.
